I have a M14 Classic, in 7mm-08, which I bought a couple of years ago, new. It had been sitting on the shelf for awhile. Its 2007 vintage, before they went with the slower twist. I'd like to change out the stock with something equivalent to an AccuStock, with the rails, etc. I really wanted to put a B&C Medalist on it, but, if I'm reading right; they only make it for the long actions. Does anyone know of other stock options? Is it possible to purchase an AccuStock from Savage and would it fit?

Thanks

Mark

theres a medalist for short actions:

if you want an aluminum bedding block, your options are limited to B&C, choate, H-S, and STockade, the best being the two latter.

I did some looking around and must be missing something. I don't see anything for a short action Savage sporter from Choate or H-S. I did see the tactical B&C, though the description suggests it may be for a heavy barrel ("contoured for varmint/sendero/police barrels"). The Stockades look nice.

All of them except for the stockade are tactical stocks, so they accept heavy barrels. If you want a synthetic stock with an aluminum bedding block and for a sporter barrel, it seems that your only option is Stockade. You could just get a tactical stock and have your sporter sit in the oversized barrel channel, nothing really wrong with that except for the looks and the chance of getting bigger chunks of dirt in there.

Let me ask you folks this -

I also have a 2010 Model 11 FHNS (AccuStock) in .243, which, I plan to rebarrel with a heavy varmint barrel. Could I put its AccuStock on the 2007 M14 Classic? My M14 Classic is a couple of years before the AccuStock and it has the side bolt release vs the newer style. Will the newer AccuStock fit?

No it will not, the accustock is not backwards compatible with older models.
