Would the steel cause unusual wear to parts? And how does the outside coating hold up? When they were reloaded, did you have to drill out the center for the primer? Thought about trying it, but had heard it could not be done....interesting!

I don't have much experience with the lacquer coated stuff, just a few rounds here and there. The vast majority of what I load is the dull gray colored steel. I never even bothered to tumble it or clean it in any way. Just the other day I tumbled some .45 ACP and it was definitely an improvement. I'll do that from now on. And I don't bother with the Berdan primed cases. They all get thrown away. I don't think steel cases are too hard on the gun, but then I shoot all these rounds out of a DPMS carbine. It's not what I'd call a match rifle. Around here the accuracy requirements of USPSA rifle matches are not that great, and reliability has never been a problem.
