Replacement Stock for Model 10 Predator

I love my Predator in 204 Ruger. It lives in my truck and is my go-to rifle for reasonable distance chuck hunting and general purpose varminting. Given the terrain and vegetation that I have to navigate, I prefer a high Harris bipod as a shooting aid. Here's where the problem arises. Although the Mossy Oak Brush camo looks good, the tupperware and the long lever arm provided by the bipod result in deflection of the stock and loss of the barrel's free-floatng state. This rig routinely shoots < .5 moa at the bench on bags but the field set-up is another matter. Some loss of accuracy in the field is certainly expected but there is the routine flyer that I can only attribute to the mechanism described above. The current stock arrangement is funadamentally flawed for my intended use.

So, I love the camo combination but I am results oriented. If I have to settle for a non-camo version that is functional, that's the way it is but not really ideal. By the way, I am not an artist and the concept of me and a paint job on a new stock suggests disaster. Any advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

I thought the 'Accustock' was supposed to 'fix' all the ills associated with the tupperware stocks... ::)

On more serious note... is the bipod you use a swivel model? If it isn't, I might suggest changing that, and putting a Pod-Loc or similar on the swivel tension adjustment, in lieu of changing the whole stock - assuming you're okay with the stock in general.

Yeah, I had the same thought and the bipod I am using is a swivel model. BTW, the stocks on the Predator (at least the model I have) are not the Accustock.

And when I shoot my Carbine off the bench I have it mounted on a Harris Bipod. I have no trouble with the barrel remaining free-floated and I shoot half-MOA all day long.

So....needless to say I'm a bit perplexed when you say your stock flexe's to the point of no more free-float.

In the field with a high bipod, or on the bench with a low one. Apples and oranges. (Dresie and Casie (http://www.guardian.co.uk/pictures/image/0,8543,-10104347243,00.html) perhaps?)

Dave - It's the only Predator model that's not the Max 1 model and the only Predator model that's offered in Mossy Oak Brush camo. It's also the only model of the 3 that you have listed that does not have the Accustock. This may help to reduce your perplexity.

Now I understand that you have this Model. I thought all Predator models came with the Accustock. I guess I stand corrected.

I also use Harris Bipods and find them to be great tools. I suppose you could replace the stock with an aftermarket one, or as some have done, reinforce the existing stock with a few carbon arrow shafts and Davcon.

Just some thoughts.

That's Davemuzz's proprietary epoxy. ;)
It's even better than Devcon.

By the way, Home Debit Depot has drill bits long enough to drill from the front of the stock well back to past the recoil lug. Drill the hole, insert the arrow/steel tube /aluminum tube, or whatever, add epoxy, and plug and sand the opening, touch it up with Testor's model paint. Easy Peasy.

Edit: Lowes has them too, longer and slightly less expensive.
