I haven't shot many different calibers. I have a 30 30 and want something with a little more recoil. It will be for target/range fun. I want to stay below the 30 06. I'll probably shoot 50 or less rounds per range trip. thanks for the replies.

Why in the world do you want "more recoil"?? Do you mean more "power" than the .30-30??

If you want more power and recoil, but stay below .30-06, then go the .308 route. I personally have left the .308 behind, and I am now shooting a .243 WIN. I wish I had made that change a long time ago. The .243 doesn't have your "recoil", but is superbly accurate, and more than capable as a hunting rifle caliber. It is super easy to load for, with dozens of powder and projectile choices.

Rat is right... As you gain more experience you'll find recoil sucks. It takes its toll on you & the rifle.
I've been playing with my new (to me) 25.06 and LOVE it!! Hi velocity, light loads, unprecedented accuracy. Even while testing for OCW, the "off" loads were still under 1.25" for 3 to 4 shots.

You might like a .270 also. Great accuracy, flat shooter & it's the next size below an '06. Very easy to get along with.

Hey Rat - Check your messages.
