My sierra book says 34.9 for 3600 fps and the max load is listed at 35.7. Now I looked at Hodgdon and they are showing loads for 36.3 at 3700+ fps. Would It be ok to load 35 gr and still be well in the safe zone? I just started reloading yesterday and getting info on what is a safe starting point. This is for a 22-250 useing once fired remington brass. Thanks Dan

Anything Hodgdon reccomends will be within a "Safe Zone". Their lawyers usually write the books, not the engineers.

I have used 37.5 grains of 4064 behind a 55 BT in my Swift for over 40 years.

Keep in mind that R/L manual data is a Guideline. All manuals will caution you to start low & work up gradually looking for pressure signs. What is safe in my rifle may not be safe in yours. That being said I have two 22-250's, one factory Rem bbl, one match grade bbl. 35 grs of IMR-4064 w/ 55gr bullet would be safe in either rifle. Both of these rifles shoot the 55grners in the 37.0+ chg wgt range. A bit hard on brass though.
