Is there enough material on a sporter 223 barrel to set it back and chamber the 221 fireball, if not what about a 222 rem?

I had one done several years ago by a now defunct gunshop in Texas. I sent them the gun, they rechambered it to 221FB, recrowned the muzzle, reassembled and headspaced it and returned it in one week. Cost: $110.00. That barrel shot great. Only problem was it wouldn't feed rounds from the magazine. I put a single shot follower in it and proceeded to kill many thousand Prairie Dogs with it.

thanks for the reply, I'm thinking of building a 222 or 221 with a mannlicher stock for a little light weight carbine. Was yours a centerfeed or the staggerdfeed? has anyone tried the 221 in a centerfeed mag?

Mine was a LH model 16 staggerfeed.

I saw a factory built Savage M110 in 222 Rem at a gunshow several years ago, only one I have encountered.
