OK Guys,

OK..I dont think my shoulders would stand up to lots of 338LM firing but I want a mile gun...

I have lots of 300WM and components on hand from the past...Lots of it...

Savage does not sell the Target Style right bolt right port LA that comes on the 110FCP in 338...the 110 FCP HS 300WM version uses a standard LA...

Besides large shanked barrel, feed lips on the mags and the bolt head...any other obstacles to swap one of these over to 300WM?

The Target Style RBRP action has to be a better, stronger option than the standard Savage LA.

I have 400+ loaded 300WM, 1000+ 1X fired Brass, lbs of powder and 1500+ 175-190 grain SMK on hand...hence my desire to go to 300WM with the conversion...

I just think/believe the Target Style Action is stronger/stiffer than the standard LA

Do you have a standard LA sitting around? If so, snap a pic of both bolts next to each other... or a pic of the bolt of the LP on a fine scale ruler. I am interested to see if the bolt heads are different like the SA Magnum vs SA standards.

Have you fired the new Savages in 338 LM? These rifles come with a surprisingly effective muzzle brakes. If the factory brake is not effective enough, there are some amazing brakes out there that can reduce the felt recoil tremendously. Center Shot Rifles make a very effective brake called the Muscle Brake.

The Savage 110 BA in .338 LM has about as much recoil as my Savage 10 FCP .308 Win.

Because of the BA's weight and the muzzle brake it if an easy to shoot gun. In fact, I believe it has less recoil than a 300 win mag that you propose to build.

Also keep in mind that the 300 WM is not a one mile gun. It does reach out further than the .308, but it is not a true one mile cartridge.

I am going to be shooting one mile this summer (I have to get out of Florida to do it). But it is not really very practical for most people to shoot a mile. I am just doing it because I will be out West and there are places that I can do it. Otherwise, it is not really something that I would build a gun for.

Get a .338LM and start reloading. You will hit the mile mark.

Just bought the 338 lm good gun and like they say about as much recoil as the 308 only thing it's expensive to shoot
