Just got back from a PD hunt in western Kansas. 2 of us went and we shot about 600 rnds each. The closest shot was 46yrds with 223Rem, and the longest shot was 912yrds with a 6mm Rem. The first day was very windy (15mph to 30mph) but day 2 was better. I used a 223Rem and a 204 Ruger, my buddy used a 17Hmr, a 223Rem, and a 6mm Rem. We both bought the RCBS shooting benches, and with a few very minor complaints, they worked great. My buddy also bought a Leica 1600 rangefinder, we were very pleased with that. All rifles used were Savages except the 204 which was a Remington, and it will be replaced by a Savage.

Was it a guided hunt or did you find a place to go on your own? I am interested in going and just dont have an idea how to find a spot.

I found the ranch 3 years ago with an internet search for hunting. The ranch charges $125 per day per person, they have 10000 acres if I remember correctly. They seem to be good people, just a rancher and his family trying to make a living. The ranch is 6 miles west of Syracuse KS on us 50, almost to Co. Most of the hunting is longer range, usually 200yrds and farther. You will probably need a 4x4 or atv to get back into some of the ranch. Contact info: Treg Hatcher (620) 384-5758

A group of us went to the exact same spot mothers day weekend. We stayed in syracuse with Rebel Ridge Outfitters and hunted just over the line in Colorado. We had high wind and rain the second day so the numbers were down but still shot 300 centerfire and a few 17 hmr. Loads of fun and I will go back.
