Hello just finished up a 6.5 creedmoor build and im looking for good ground hog bullets something that will make a nice red mist! I have 95 gr v-max but havent had a chance to test them out. And does anyone have favorites for long range work. Any good stories of game you have taken with the 6.5? I cant wait to take mine out!

At long range you'll probably have to make compromises on the "red mist". The light, low BC bullets just don't have much left in them and the wind does a number on them. 120 Amaxes have a decent BC and seem pretty thin skinned, I only shot a few though as I had a load that worked well already . My farthest rockchuck to date, ~1180 yards, was with a 129SST out of a 260.

I was planning 140s for long range work i know i wont get the mist with them. I plan to use the lighter varmint bullets for close range say within 3-400yds where i live in ohio i dont get to many shots over 300 i wish i could.

Hi in my 264 win mag, I love those 85gr Sierra HP mated up with 72 gr of 100 hybrid in my 26" 10 tw Mcgowan at 4000+ fps+, I call that load Mr nasty I don't really need to worry about BC and bullet drop or the wind, cause like I allways say a bullet that spends less time in the wind will be less affected by the wind.

both my 6.5 BR and 6.5x47 lapua love the new nosler 123 Custom Comp bullets. Havn't harvested anything with them ( unless paper counts) but dead accurate. For speed I like 85 gn berger flat base.

My 6.5x47 is in my humble opionion the best short action caliber i have ever owned. Im shooting 140 grain berger hybrids in an 8 twist lilja 28" barrel. It is a 1/2 moa rifle but would probably be better with a better shooter behind it. Im pushing the 140's 2800fps with rl17 behind it. It only drops 27.5 moa at sea level and bucks the wind somethin fierce! Light recoil and a light trigger make this one fun rifle.

I know IV only shot my creedmoor 53 times so far but its extremely accurate. It was a coin toss to decide between the creedmoor 6.5x47l or the 260. Anyway anyone have any experience with a good groundhog bullet?
