6-284 and 100 grain bullet

i am looking for data to load my 6-284 and was wondering if i could use 6.5-284 data for the same weight bullet since really the only difference is the neck am i rite?

Wouldn't do that if I were you. For same bullet weight and powder type, necking down to smaller caliber will give you higher pressure for the same amount of powder--smaller hole for the gas to escape from and longer bearing surface on the bullet.

Hodgdon has 6-284 data on their site:

(FYI, according to their annual manual, these 6-284 loads are for reformed Win cases, WLR primers, and a 26" barrel)

As an example of my first comment, note that they give 51 gr of H4831 for a 107gr bullet as the starting load for a 6.5-284, but this is the MAX load for the 6-284.

i have looked at their site and they do not have any 6mm-284 data. i did finally get a response back from their ballistics guy and he sent me some data on this powder.

if anyone else has some data on 100 grain bullets could you help me with this combo?

As Keebler said, when going to a smaller caliber you have a smaller hole for gas to escape so pressures will be higher. Using 6.5 data in a 6mm is very bad stuff.

I ran Ramshot Hunter with SIerra 100 grain Pro-Hunters. I believe I was at 51 grains of powder. I sold that barrel and no longer have the data but I may have a round I can pull down and measure.
