How much jump dose the 6.5x55 Swede like? Steve

I usually start at 35-thousands. I will move closer if I don't get cloverleafs at 100 yards. Of course, you can try different powders as well....but most (not all, but most) barrels like RL-22. I don't think I've found a barrel that like's em set out farther than 35-thousands. But....you never know!!

I once read that the Swede was the "only' cartridge that liked that BIG jump and that a jump of that distance was a huge handicap in other calibers. My experience is limited to 7.62 X 39, 6.5 X 55 and 6mmBR so I don't have much to go on for comparison. I have heard that about the Swede so many times I accept it. Usually heard .020 out of the lands but 35 is easy enuf to try and I suspect that barrels and powders affect that dimension.

Depends on what you are shooting too. My M96 Swedish Mauser has a long throat but I have gotten some sub MOA groups out of mine with 120-140gr bullets. In modern chambers, you just have to see what the rifle likes.
