I'm curious if anyone here has used Wolf ammo for their 308 Axis and had good results. I bought 3 boxes of the stuff at Wally World and my groups sucked (4-5 inches). I tried some cheap federal soft point ammo and my groups went down to an inch to inch in a half.

If anyone has had better results let me know.

I do not know about .308, but I can tell you that I do not like them in my Mosin Nagant. They feel like inferior ammunition when shooting them. Unfortunatly, my options here are Wolf, or military surplus when available. I prefer the surplus...

Bottom of the barrel, steel case, steel jacketed ammo will never perform as well as even low-end US made stuff.

It goes bang when you pull the trigger and a bullet goes down range - that is about all you can say for it.

I have Mosins too. It's funny when you think about it. I get better groups with my Mosin (made in 1944) shooting iron sights and surplus ammo. Then the Axis shooting the crappy wolf ammo. You would think that the Wolf would perform a little better. It's a shame because I will be shooting my Axis a lot less now at $15 per box.

Thank You!

99.9% of the time I would completely agree with Eric. I have only seen 1 rifile that will shoot any wolf ammo worth a crap. My 16" AR with a 1-7" barrel will digest them into an 1 1/2" at 100yds. I ended up getting about 600 rounds that a guy threw in on a trade. I figured I would try 1 box in the AR before I tried to roll them over. Think I'll keep 'em for plinking out in the back 40 since they didn't cost me anything. Probably won't buy anymore when these run out though. Only reason i can figure why these shoot out of this rifle is the 1-7" twist get 'em spinning faster?

I do know that a buddy bought some several years ago to run through a 110 in 223 with a 12" twist and they only made bad patterns and not groups. 2ft spreads at 100 were the norm.

I shoot a .308 and from what I have seen from a 10, or 11 twist is they make GREAT zombie loads as long as you dont have to hit em in the HEAD. As stated, they go BANG. And make a great .30 cal shotgun pattern.

I have found NO wolf ammo worth carrying out of the store.
