For a stock, would one of the HS precision stocks not do ? http://www.stockysstocks.com/servlet/the-403/aluminum-bedded-savage-stock/DetailCurrently $322.74 at Stockys (mostly sold out but can be back ordered at that price).

Lets face it, where can you buy a functioning rifle for just over $300, then sell the take off barrel and tupperware stock for a few $, then add a custom stock and match barrel for about $600 (total price well under $900) ?. It all depends on whether anyone is running specials om model 10's and model 12's I guess. I lucked into a stainless 12 for just over $700 with the laminated stock, but it lists for over $1000. And they have been sold out for months too. Now the barrel on mine is not a lapped match barrel, but just a good factory barrel. I could probably add a Shaw barrel within the $900 budget, but will probably wait for a Shilen or Lilja. That wait is getting darn long too.

I have a savage axis 308 that I want to put a heavy barrel and muzzle break, but I will need to change the stock. Does any one know where I can get a stock ?
