Hornaday 285gr Match

Savage 110 FCP HS, 338 Lapua Magnum, 285Gr Hornaday Match, 90 Gr's of Retumbo. 5 shot groups at 100 yards, bullet holes touching. You can cover the hole with a nickle. This was the first time out with these loads. I haven't started tweaking the load yet. I have high hopes for this one, stay tuned.

What COAL did you use?

3.60"same as for the 300 gr Sierra. As I said these were starting loads. I will play with this a bit more as I tweak the loads to see what it will do. I will say that I am very optimistic. :)

I was just curious. I am using the 285's with N164. But I think I didn't seat them down enough or I need to neck trim a little more. They were really stiff to chamber.

How are your groups with N164?

I just started breaking it in and zeroing it. I got it consistently hitting 6 inch steel round at 300 yards. It is really clean powder.
