I was looking at a Model 11 in .223 with accutrigger for $450 and wanted information about how it will shoot 55 gr ammo.

Are the results usually favorable or unfavorable? What gr bullet typically shoots best in them?

Savage has a lot of model 11 rifles. You don't say which one. And depending on model and twist it may or may not handle the 55s. Whether it's a good deal depends on it's condition and model.

Each rifle wll have it's own preference, but they have a 1:9 twist so you should have no problems with 55gr pills. One of the 1:9's I had shot 50/52gr better though. Never tried 60+gr.

Twist is the killer on bullets.
So "will it work" depends upon bullet construction.

Dogtowns/Varmint nightmare = 240-260,000 RPM
Hornady VMax/SP's = 290,000 RPM
Sierra Varminters = 216,000 RPM
Sierra BlitzKings = 352,000 RPM
Speer TNT(low velocity version) = 240,000 RPM

MV * 720 / Twist = RPM

Basically you need to stay low velocity, or 55 grains and up.

Yea, old 1shot is our resident 1-holer. It doesn't seem like he owns a Savage rifle that wont do that.
