Savage Steven Trigger Change? Non-Accutrigger

Did Savage do away with their old trigger:

and replace it with the Axis (Edge) Trigger? Removing the old side mounted return spring and replace it with the coiled return spring you see on the Axis.

This is the trigger on my Stevens 200 purchased February 2012

Does anyone or have you heard anything about this change. I for one like it as it will allow for adjustment on the factory trigger.

Mine came from Savage with a trigger break of 6#s.....Cutting 1 ¼ round off the return spring and slightly polishing the sear and trigger sear point with a Arkansas wetstone just slightly it dropped the trigger pull to 3lbs 8ozs, which is fine for this rifle as it is designated for hunting.

Looks like they are streamlining to use accu-trigger parts that are already in the parts bin.
Doesn't really surprise me much. I have seen(in the past 3 years) a 2-screw, AND a 3-screw Stevens trigger.
Probably just running out of some parts and are making it easier on themselves.

Yup they made this change to the Stevens line, as noted.

I just bought a Stevens 200 .223 today and it has the side mounted wire spring.
