I was down at the local rifle range today helping a few people out with getting their rifle sighted
in for the upcoming deer season on Monday. One guy just came from Gander Mountain where he
had purchased a 114 Savage in 30 - 06 caliber. This was a Accutriger model. After we got him
sighted in he came back over to me and showed me the back section of the bolt
SEE PIC. The piece that I have the red arrow pointing to could easily be moved around the bolt when
the bolt was open. My Savages with the old style trigger is made a little different and this piece
cannot be turned like his rifle. If the bolt was open this piece could be easily turned and the bolt
would not close. Was there something wrong or is this how they are made?

That is how they are made. Everyone of my savages is the same way and Ive never had a problem with it.

That's just the gas baffle and it will rotate. It's held in place by a detent ball so it can easily removed.
