Is possible to make a 9.3 x 74r with a long action savage
single shot is fine if it can't be used as a repeater

I was aiming for a 9.3 x 62 but I already bought a cz in that caliber.

Oh my ... not a common chambering for a bolt rifle. Usually double rifles or Ruger #1s.

9,3x74R

Max OAL =3.740 Rim diameter = 0.5240

.375 H&H

Max OAL = 3.600 Rim diameter = 0.5320

.416 Rigby

Max OAL = 3.760 Rim diameter = 0.5902

Looks like an action that will feed a Rigby should work for the 9,3x74R. The bolt face of the .375 H&H is a little large ... may have to open up a smaller one.

Will likely have to fiddle w magazines and followers some.

Real question is why bother ... the 9,3x62 makes just a little more velocity and is much more easily used in a bolt rifle.

BTW: I have two 9,3x62 bolt rifles and a 9,3x74R double rifle.

so you already bought a cz in '62?? buy another then??!?!? else go a '64; hottest off the 62/64/66/74.
Leave the 74 for the ruger and doubles.

The Savage bolt face doesn't play nice with rimmed rounds.

If you want one you don't have to baby, look at a TC Encore.
Match Grade Machine list the 9.3x74R as an available chambering.

After researching barrel cost, and labor and not to mention pains of making it work, I am going to go with an off-the-shelf 9.3x74r rifle. hmm, I have to lookup TC Encore in a 74, Thanks,

wow, I wonder if they allow this to be imported for sporting use? ;D

mstarling, Russian Baikal makes a double, but I don't think we will see any here.

That Dragunov looks like a bunch of fun.... ;D certanly is a BIG HOLE in the tube for a light sniper....

....the 286 grainer in the 9.3 is the go to loading; exactly the sectional density (SD) of the 300grain 375(H&H etc) and similar velocities. Has the SD edge, obviously over the 270gr 375.
