I got this gun about 2 months ago, I always wanted something in a 6.5 see how those high BC bullets fly, well 100 % satisfied with the gun I have 6 different savages and I must say I prefer them over any other gun my Rem 700 is a good gun took first place in hunter class with it in .308 but this 260 is pretty nice shooter I bought 3 different bullets sierra 100gr FB HP, SMK 123, and SMK 142, it didnt take much to get 1/4 moa out of the 100 gr with Varget and 1/4 out of the 123 s but really ran into some problems going up in powder with the 142, Sierra called for a load of 37.9 of N-150 as their accuracy load and 39.9 max I started at 36 and started working my way up at 37.5 bolt was starting to get tight but I have been reloading 30 years and wanted to push the envelope and wanted to reach 39+ well thats not gonna happen at 39 I cracked a case in half, so I got the chrony out to see what I got going on here, 37 grs was the good load 1/4 moa at a average of 2660 fps that is 660 fps faster then Siearra shows for 37.9 and my high was 2710fps they show 39.9 for 2700, they show their gun Savage VSS 24 inch vs my 26 if they shot 39.9 then must be some chamber or slight bore difference in the past 8 years since this book was printed.

So those who are new working up new loads just a hint here on any data you may use I did try some H4350 not so good.

This is a nice gun the first thing i did before I shot it was to bed it.

My 12LRP in 6.5 is a hammer as well. I get .5 moa with 95 vmax, .25 w 120 AMAX, and under half with 142 SMK and 140amax. The best loads Ive got have been the factory loads of 41.5 H4350 @ book length on both of the 140's and 44.5 on the 120's.

I shot past 200 for the first time last Sunday. Had no problems hitting all the way to 850. I was very happy.

140's go 2750ish, i think the 120's were 3-3100, and 3300 on the 95's with 47gr of h4350.

Most accurate so far.

LRP in .260
140gr Sierra Match King
2.754" OAL
Nosler Brass
Wolf NCLR primers
37gr H4350
2450fps

Things started to open up after 37.5gr and never came back togeather.
Max for this combination is around 40gr H4350.
Running a ladder I went up to 43gr where I had a primer fall out. Ooops...

I have some 140gr Hornady Custom Comps and 140gr AMax on hand to try.
But it's still early days. Haven't had this rifle for very long.
