In 30 caliber (.308"), anyone here using Berger VLD's?

How do you like them?

Is it absolutely necessary to seat then touching the rifling (as per the mfg.)?

I think I might fill out a mortgage application & get a box or two. They seem to be a little costly.

They don't SEEM to be costly, they ARE costly ;D
Have had luck following their instructions, and NOT following. Just depends upon the rifle.

I've been using the 185 gr. VLD in my .308. Yes...I seat them out to touch the lands. They seem to group better this way...in my .308 anyway. In my .260 Improved...I'm 2 thousandths off....which seems to be that barrels favorite recipe ( 140 gr. VLD).

I'm now going to give Lapua Scenar's a go for each.

Good Luck,

Wayne

Looks like an article that needs to be read: http://www.longrangehunting.com/articles/vld-bullets-accuracy-1.php

Good info on that site, Jack. I put it in my favorites. While reading about the VLD's, I stumbled upon an article or 3 about the .270 win.... My most favorite cartridge / rifle.
Probably because there's very little I can do to make it shoot lousy. It's my "feel better" gun. When nothing else is going right, it'll make me feel better...

Thanx again.
