6-284 on long action?

Has anyone built a 6-284 on a long action or do you usually get it to work on a short action

Along action is ideal for the 6-284. I like the centerfeed type but staggerfeed in 30-06 length should work fine.Any long action will work as long as you change the bolt head to the one desired.I would use the 30-06 length magazine and follower and it should feed perfect.

I agree whole-heartedly. I have a 6mm284 on a shorty (not Savage) and a 6.5-.284 on a long action centerfeed. No comparison when it comes to feeding and the hassles involving seating depth. It's such an issue that I have strongly considered making my shorty into a 243 AI or a 6x47L when the throat is toast.

thanks guys i will be looking for a round backed long action then. in 30 06 sounds like is the way to go
