Guys,

My .308 W Savage bolt rifle is apart and I've sent the Douglas bbl to be threaded for a brake adapter for a suppressor.

Seems to me this is a perfect time to do the coating from blue to Gun-Kote. I have all the stuff to do Gun-Kote and have had good success with it. Thought I would do the action and bbl in FDE.

How challenging is it to completely strip the action? What is the procedure?

Thank you!

Mike

1. pull the bolt out
2. pull the cross pin out holding the trigger assembly on (place a finger over the sear spring!!)
3. pull trigger assembly off followed by the safety assembly

done

Like trappst said. The Savage rifle is very simple to strip. In about 10 minutes I can have mine stripped down as far as it will go minus the extractor. If you have any experience with stripping any other firearm, you should not have any trouble with the Savage.

Thanks Guys!

I do Mausers, M70s, ARs and 1911s all the time. Good to ask abt things before something not so obvious bites you!

Have to pull the extractor out first so I can reinstall the bbl and time the can brake/adapter.

Then we decide if we change the color ;)
