Looking at putting together an axis .308
Im planning on using a vortex diamondback 3-9x40 and a dnz game reaper one piece solid low mount.
Anybody know if this combo will work well together?

Need to make sure the DNZ mount will work with the Axis. The Axis is different than the 10-110 Savages.

They have a mount specifically for the Axis.

I just want to make sure that everything will fit together well.

Good to see somebody else jumping on the Axis bandwagon.

Ive used the dnz low mounts w a leupold 40mm obj w a varmint barrel w plenty of room to spare. So it should fit w no prob. I know they extended their product line to include the axis/edge rifles when they came out. They are very good mounts and they are all i have used for a long time now without one problem. No need to loctite the screws anymore either.

I used low dnz mounts on my .223 and get some rub from the bolt handle on the eyepiece of my 4-12x40 redfield. I just mounted a VX3 Leupold 3.5-10x40 on my new stainless Axis .30-06 and used medium height dnz mounts and that works perfectly. Now i just need a nice day to go shoot this thing and see how she does.

Farmer44mag, How much higher is the medium compared to the low?

This mount i have now is my first one that was the low mount. Previously i stuck to the med mount cuz i was afraid of the bell not clearing the harrel but this time i took a chance and it cleared after all. I think the med will clear up to 50mm plain bell or 44mm w AO. For 50mm AO and above ur better off w the high. I have had a 44mag scope from simmons on one of these rifles w the med mounts.

It's really not that much higher. It gives you plenty of clearence for the bolt handle. It makes it a little easier when shooting at the bench for me- My earmuffs make it hard to shoot with the low mounts.

I guess i am used to medium mounts as i have them on 3 other rifles- if you are used to low mounts you may not like them. You do need to adjust your scope elevation turret quite a bit more the higher you go with the scope.

I think you will find that the closer you can keep the optics to your barrel w/o interferance from the bolt or anything, the better it will shoot for you.

Update: The DNZ LOW MOUNT does NOT fit with a vortex diamondback 3-9x40. Other scopes might not have clearance issues but the LOW mount is too low for the vortex. So I ordered a medium one which should be perfect.

I have a Nikon 6-18x40m scope on my Axis using Burris Xtreme Tactical Mediums.
My experience was that low mounts do not provide enough clearance for the bolt handle.
