I am building a 300 Whisper on a 722 Remington action to use as a cast bullet shooter. I should have it in a week. I have the reform die ,223 cases and plenty of 30 cal cast booltis of different sizes.

Problem is what loads do I use. I have Red Dot, Unique, 700x,2400, H322, 4895,Varget and H2227.

Can I get some loads out these powders that will give 1600fps plus or minus?

Thanks much and Happy Thanksgiving.

300 Whisper load data out of Sierra manual (http://listmequick.com/300/Sierra300whisper.pdf)

I went a little differnt route and built a Savage based on the 7.62x25 Tokarev. I could use surplus ammo in a pinch. Decent factory ammo was available. Dies are cheap, brass is readily available. I loaded mine mostly with heavy stuff at subsonic levels but could have ramped it up pretty easily. Mine was a neat project that a lot of people liked shooting.

The manual lists a few loads using the powders you have in the velocity range you are looking for so you should be good.

All I have ever used in the whisper is 296 and 110 ( same powder-different can). 14.2 of 296 with small pistol primers and a 170 gr lazercast will get 1780 in a 16.5" barrel. Only supersonic load I use...Good luck with your whisper...

I have only used Vihtavouri N110, and I feel like I chose the right powder. I have a Savage 10fp with an 18" Shilen barrel. For subsonics, I put a 240 gr. SMK over 8.5 grains. This yields about 1050 fps. For my supersonic loads, I am using 125 grain Nosler ballistic tips. I have found that I can get about 17.5 grains of powder stuffed in the case and still have room for the bullet. This gives me about 2150 fps. More than enough for hunting as long as the range is reasonable. Check out this site for everything you could want to know:
