What caliber do you want? 17? 50? You Kiwis are impressively industrious so I'd like to see what you come up with. What is it you plan to do with the rifle?

With only a barrel change, I think you can go with .243, .260, 7mm-08, .308, and maybe some of the larger stuff as well. Any of the ones I listed should get you out to 1000yds with the right mix of components.

.250-3000 would be pretty easy also.

And you can keep the .22-250 barrel and swap it back if you want. Just rezero after the swap. You may have to tweek the magazine a bit for some cartridges. Just keep that barrel and tang free floated. You may find yourself swapping barrels more often than you think. Some guys on here are just plain barrel swapping fanatics. Gets expensive, just ask 'em. ;D

Well I would love a 50.. Haha . Idk a 308 might be good. I plan on learning to reload soon but I don't yet, so I need a caliber I can shoot fairly cheap using factory ammo

Everyone has their favorite rounds, and I will throw a plug out there for the .243. I have just recently started shooting and reloading for it, and really like it alot. It is not too bad on powder and brass is easy to find, so it is ralativley inexpensive to load for. You can load up the light stuff (55gr vmax, etc.) around 4000fps to smoke just about any varmint out there. And you can load all the way up to 115 grain bullets shooting at 1000yds and beyond, or for larger predators and deer. It's a really versatile round and very fun to shoot with super low recoil. But, then again, if you get into barrel swapping, why not get one of all of them and change it up.
