Anybody worked w/ this combination in the factory 9.25" twist? I know they say you need faster 9" twist, but I'm hopin' the 300 I just bought on another forum will fly straight...

What powder(s) have y'all tried w/ good, low ES, great accuracy and decent velocity? Any tips on these bullets; I've never worked with 'em? I am running this cartridge in the cavernous 110 action so seating length won't be an issue as pertains to feeding through mag, so I have that advantage...

Thanks,

efw

efw,

I can't comment on the ES (I didn't get my chronograph out to the range enough when shooting the VLDs). But, I can tell you the 9.25 twist in the 26" varmint barrel (like the one I had on my former model 12 VLP) would shoot them reasonably well. I used some Varget and IMR-4350, and I feel the IMR-4350 was superior. It does limit the powder in the case.

I also shot the SMKs in 95s and they were just a bit better. I think the 9.25 twist is right on the edge for this round. I also had good success with Hornady VMax in 75gr (just FYI).

Good luck on the loads....

Thank you both very much for your assistance; I'll be sure to give a range report when I've got things put together.

Just FYI... the last I looked, shootersproshop.com had Noz custom .243 Win brass in so-called "blems" on sale CHEAP!

I think they would be fine. My 1 in 9.25 VLS 243 loves the 105 Amaxs. Holds MOA out to 600. I know all guns are different but I think your right in there.

Yup, shot them with great sucess out to 1000yards, and even opened some people eyes at a couple 600 yard matchs. Try 4350 powder.
