View Full Version : Proper bolt face for 6.5 Grendel?

Looking at doing a wildcat based on this cartridge and cannot find out for sure if the .473 face works fine or if something else is needed. Please advise.

the .473 will get you by but you need a ppc bolt head

.473 will work fine.It(.473) is only .0165 bigger on a side than the .440 for a ppc. It is so negligable that it surprises me that they bother to cut bolt faces to the odd .440 plus to make it an orphan head size.I would run the .473 or if you are that worried,Fred at sss makes them out of .378 bolt heads and bores them out to the .440 plus size.

I didn't feel experimental so I rebarreled a 7.62X39 chambered 10 CFM with a 22" Sporter weight Pac-Nor SM with an 8 twist.
