Midway has Lapua,Nosler,Hornady and Norma brass in 6.5-284. Which is recommended to use to neck down? Will the 284 case feed from an '06 type magazine or do you have to play with the lips?

Any of the above brass should work fine, though I personally prefer Norma. Be prepared to neck turn just in case.

The .284 case feeds fine from an '06 mag with no mods.

calib,
I have only used Federal Gold Metal Match large rifle primers in mine. (GM210M)
I can't find any of my chrony data for the Bergers.

Not sure why no one spoke up -- I only shoot 105s & up....dual port PTA, PacNor 1-8 27" barrel

Keep a large box of 117 DTACS loaded...go to for precision/range and extreme temp ranges-- 56.5 gr Ram Mag for avg of 3240 fps

Also use 115 DTACs, 117 Berger VDL hunting and 107 SMKs
RL17 is another mix for the above....
Working up H1000 and RL33 loads this week

I can give more specs if interested

how do you prep the brass from start to finished load for the 6- 284? like sizing and all?

Quality Cartridge advertises formed and head-stamped brass for most calibers in existence. I know I checked for my own 6-284. Here's the link: www.qual-cart.com

Hope it helps.

I just got both of mine back from the 'smith. I have a 10 twist sporter on a Mex Mauser and an 8" twist HS precision on an FN Mauser. I expect big things from the FN as the barrel is 29.5" long. I fully prepped Win 284 brass and will be playing with Nosler Custom Comp 107gr bullets. It will be a few months before I get wood fitted to them. Let ya know how it works out.
