A Stevens 200 in 270 followed me home from work today and now i need to put a scope on it. This is for a "truck gun" as many call them. Looking for shooting to 300 yds for deer and coyotes. i know these are cheap rifles but they are still good shooters.

The last Scope i bought was a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14 mildot. I also have a Bushnell 3200 both are very nice scopes and would have no problem adding another one to the safe.

After surfing around on opticsplanet it seems like there are hundreds of nice scopes out there. anyone have any ideas of scopes in the same price range. Or a scope that would get me more for less?

Thanks

I've been real impressed with the three Vortex scopes I've bought over the last few years. A 4-12x in the Diamondback line will set you back right around $300 or you could step up to their Viper line and get a 4-12x for right around $400.

I picked up a vortex Diamond back in 4-12x40 for only $250 after tax. I woul dlook into that. They are affordable, and offer a lifetime warranty.

I got a vortex crossfire scope for my brother and now I'm getting a higher end vortex viper pst for my current build. I would take a hard look at vortex line rifle scopes.

+1, I have a number of Vortex scopes and have had the occassion of using thir warranty service. The warranty is truely "no BS" and they will fix or replace a scope, no questions asked and have been know to replace with a scope of higher value for a very small cost.

Don't know how soon you need it but CameraLand has the Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 wide plex for $279.99. Early March timeframe.

I agree with the Vortex diamondback as a good option, if you get the 4-12x get it without the adj. ob. It will save you about 100$ and it's something that's not needed on a "truck gun" or most short to medium range hunting rifles. I just bought one from optics planet 189$ and free shipping. :) That 6.5-20x viper looks like a sweet deal but in my opinion is not practical for a "truck gun" used at 300yds or less, but if you like it, it's probably alot of scope for the money. I'm not trying to be mean, but I would stay away from the crossfire series, they are made in china and I'll bet the cust. service people at Vortex wish they didn't sell em :D.LOL.
