Need some advice. Took new rifle to range last week to sight-in scope and break in barrel. I had a box each of Black Hills 168 gr BTHP Win Match and Fed Gold Matchking BTHP also in 168gr. After around 10 rnds of BH, I switched to the Federal. Very tight bolt. When I did get it closed, trigger pull resulted in a small 'click'. Odd. Ejected round and inspected. No indentation on primer, no tell tale signs of bullet being jammed into lands. No marks to even indicate it had been chambered. Loaded another BH round and bolt very smooth and operating like expected. Goes bang. Loaded another Fed and tight bolt again. This one goes bang. Loaded another, tight bolt, 'click'. I stopped loading any more Fed. What could I be encountering? ??? Bad box of Fed? On the good side, I spent 4 hrs at range on a work day with temps of 65 and light breeze. But then, it could have been 40 and windy and I still would have enjoyed myself.

Sounds like some of the Fed rounds are a little long. Do you have a way to measure the case length on the tight fitting rounds from the shoulder to the base?

MrFurious, I used dig calipers as best I could considering the slightly rounded shoulder could bias my measurements. Measured 6 rounds as: 1.5525, 1.5635, 1.5625, 1.5615, 1.5615, 1.5665. Don't have any unfired BlackHills for comparison.
