Yet Another 99 Question

Great board you have here with lots of info. I just acquired my first mod 99 via a trade. A 308 with an I on the boss indicating it was made in 1957. I know I made out like a bandit. Spent the better part of the day researching some questions I have but couldn't find them. What year did Savage introduce the 308 caliber? Also there is no model indicated on the receiver..just says Savage 99. What model might I have?

Believe 308 came out in 55.

I can't really tell from your photos, but there's probably a barrel bump-up at the rear sight dovetail called a barrel "boss" and that would confirm yours as a model F lightweight.
