View Full Version : Forster .30-06 Go-gauge okay for use in installing .35 Whelen barrel?

I think I read once that the Forster gauge will work. Anyone with actual experience doing this particular conversion like to comment?

Any 30-06 go gage will work - doesn't have to be a specific brand as long as it is in spec

..Shoulder angles are the same...I see no reason why not..I usually just use new sized brass...

Should work on any '06 based case EXCEPT the .280.

.25-06, .270, 30-06, 338-06 and the .35 Whelen

When I built my .35 Whelen I used a 30-06 guage that a friend gave me. Worked just fine. He also gave me brass and dies and bullets. The kinda friend to have. Love the cartridge, shoots sub MOA with cheap green box Reminton 250 grain slugs or handloads with 200 gr. slugs. Cheap A&B barrel from Midway.
