Stevens 200 project rifle

A month or two back I decided I wanted to customize a rifle to exactly what I wanted instead of buying something off the shelf. I like the Savage 10 actions and they have a reputation for being the small block Chevy of the rifle world so I ordered a Stevens 200 in .243. Decided to go with a varmint build so I switched calibers to .204 Ruger with a Criterion barrel, changed the bolt head to a .223, put it in a Choate tactical stock, CDI magazine frame and trigger guard, AI magazine, a Rifle Basix trigger, and a large knob Savage bolt handle. Put a Mueller Eradicator scope on it and played with my airbrush for awhile and here is what came out. Still need to paint the bolt handle and bipod. Dies should be in Monday and weather permitting will have it at the range Tuesday.

Wat kind of paint did you use? What airbrush?

I decanted Krylon camouflage paint using the ziplock baggie trick and used a Paasche VL. I then topcoated with PJ1 clear epoxy, figure if it is tough enough ATV frames it should be tough enough for a rifle.. I am far from a artist but was cheaper than a water dip kit or Dura Coat. I look at it like this, if I scratch it or I decide I want a different look I can spend a evening and have a whole new look. I also plan on getting a couple of more different barrels for it. A .308 and for sure and and perhaps a 6mm BR

I am starting to experiment with my new airbush but need a lot of practice. What brand, or where did you get the epoxy clear that is thin enough to run through your airbrush?

shoot it straight from the rattle can then dull it out with some fine steel wool

This was my first attempt with the airbrush, been practicing using water based poster paint on old pieces of plywood and cardboard boxes

I like that build, but I bet the varmints'll HATE it!
