B&c verses Choate ??

Is there one better then another and if so what??
I am looking at either B&C tactical medalist or choate tactical custom?

I was comparing the two for a build i just completed as well. I went with the B&C, and never have regretted it. It feels better to me, and most people say the Choate is cheaper built.

The main factor to me was I wanted a DBM and Choate was the only one to offer it.

But I ended up cutting the DBM into the B&C and it is wonderful.
The B&C feels like it weighs a little more, ie less plasticy in my mind.

I was planning on bedding the B&C but they said to shoot it first and see the results then contemplate bedding it. So I did and it shoots great with just the aluminum bed.

plus the B&C comes in tons of color options if that is a factor for you. Choate is black. if you go to your local gun store like cabelas they will most likely have the Choate on a Savage 10FCP;Choate to see how it feels.

Those specific stocks I can't help you with, but here is my experience between the two companies.
I've had/have a Duramaxx, and Carbalite; Also a Choate Ultimate Sniper.
The B&C's are a VERY well made alternative to the tupperware supplied with our rifles. Honestly don't remember, but am pretty sure that the B&C's are pillar bedded.
The choate is a slightly different animal, but that said they are VERY heavy. For my F-class 308 it is perfect, as the 175's don't kick at all! The bedding system in the Choate is 2 pieces of aluminum angle. They form a "V" shape that you tighten the action down into.

I shot my F-class gun with the Duramaxx for several years. Didn't notice any accuracy differences. But due to the weight, I chose the U.S.

Thanks for advice guys For the price I was thinking about trying out one of the B&C but I also found a closeout on the Choate but it is a more expensive model.

Snidder did you use the factory DBM or an aftermarket? Which B&C did you use? Do you have any information or pictures on the install of the DBM?

Just worked through getting an accurate-mag dbm into a choate stock

*had to order 1.8" action screw for the front trigger guard hole
*cut down original action screw to fit the foward most hole

I used the Factory DBM, I already had it so i figured that i would use it and go to SSS for a 9 round magazine.

with the help of my machinist friend, I cut it into a B&C tactical medalist. Ill get pictures up for you to check out. It wasn't to bad, if you have help and access to a lathe.

SSS will cut it for their bottom metal for 50$.

The Choate has the Tactical short action with factory dbm already cut, if you have a short action.

RC2125 .... not to hijack the thread... but what finish did you use on your rifle? I LOVE it!

But the throw my two cents in.... I have a Choate Ultimate Sniper that I love. Yes it IS heavy... but when you're a bigger guy extra weight doesn't matter at all. Plus, the 300wm I shoot needs some weight to kill the recoil a bit. I personally haven't had the pleasure of B&C stocks... but I hear they are worth the money. I definitely considered them prior to my Choate, but I came across a good deal and the rest is history.

Camo brown and textured taupe sprayed at the same time. Have yet to finish it with my standard pattern.

I use Choate stocks,and have been very happy with them for many years.If some of the other stock mfg's like B&C,and Boyd's would offer LH stocks for customers,I might buy one and try it.
