I have a great load worked up for my Savage .308 with the Sierra 125gr soft point. The sweet spot is right around 3000fps. My question is, will this bullet be tough enough for whitetails @ 3000 fps or will it just break up on impact? Anyone try this bullet on whitetails?

I've used the 125's in a 30-06 on whitetail and it did a good job, But it does alot of meat damage. Its like alot of loads its shoot placement.

I think their meant for slower rounds. If you keep the shots away from the shoulders you might not lose too much.

I used to load 125-130 gr bullets for my nephews 340 Savage 30-30's years ago. I don't know the velocity but I think around 2500 fps or so, they worked well.

If you want a light weight bullet for the whitetail and the 308 try the Barnes 130gr TTSX. Will not explode and when loaded to the top will be a vitual twin to the 270 with a 130gr load, with from 3000 to 3100fps.
