Hello,
I have an 99 in 300 savage serial # 500xxx with a white line recoil pad that is dried out, cracked, harder than the wood stock and just needs replaced.
Anyone know if their is one made specifically for the 99 ?
If so, part # and place where to pick one up would be great.
If all else fails, I figured Midway has a bunch where I would have to search all of their dimensions, I figured to ask here 1st.
Thanks

You'll have to order a grind to fit pad. I mount the pad then take a very sharp scribe and mark the shape of the stock on the pad, remove and grind, be sure to keep the angle of the toe of the stock. For years I used a sanding disc on my table saw, picked up a combination disc and belt sander at a yard sale this past summer. for the last few thousands you can use a sanding block by hand. You can round the edges and remove the coarser grinding marks with the hand block. You might want to order an extra pad, it doesn't ake much to ruin one.

Here's one I did on my Darne

Thanks for the replys.
I figured I might have to custom grind one, thought I would ask first.
Yes, they never came with one and the 300 savage doesn't make enough recoil to need one.
The extra 1" of length is good for my long arms when I shoulder it.
I might go on e bay for a steel butt plate.
Anyone else have any information.
Thanks again
