Does anyone have a source for the stainless steel pins that are being used as tumbling medium? $10.00 a pound(on sale) is a little steep; there has to be a more cost effective source.
Best regards.,,

You can get it for less than $10/lb, but you have to buy a ton!

To put things in perspective, how much do you spend on corncob media? It doesn't last forever, unlike the stainless, and doesn't do as good a job as the stainless steel pins (not by a long shot). You also have to factor in that the corncob media will also require an additive, which get thrown out when you throw out the filthy media.

Kevin (never going back to corncob media again) :)

still 10.00 lb - buts its the only way to clean brass- inside & out
when I used to use vibrating type cleaners
the powder from the media & the carbon from the firing
was tranfered to inside of my dies & chambers,.... ughh.......
now my brass is cleaner than new

Trust me Grit, you won't be disappointed. You'll wonder why you didn't do this sooner :-)

You don't understand. My tumbler is a stainless steel, commercial, chicken breading machine. It is driven by a direct drive 1/2hp motor. The tank is probably 20 gallons. I can tumble a 5 gallon bucket of anything. Takes about 2.5 hours to tumble. I do .45acp, .223, and 7.62 x 51, and 30cal.. I have military brass in 5 gallon buckets from when I was in the USN. That is why I am interested in bulk pins. I also have a 1919 Browning that eats cartidges for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At 650 rpm with the booster it makes mountains of brass.
Best regards,

You could always buy in bulk at the cheaper price and sell of the rest and make a little money while your at it.

slightly off-track but...
Not sure how corncob will transfer powder, but stainless is supposed to not??

I use straight corncob media with no additives and it works fine...
But in my 1,000 yard loads I haven't noticed a difference between cleaned Vs. 8 reloads and none.

Good luck finding some if you are after it.

Keep in mind that this product is not designed to be used in vibratory tumblers. In time, the weight will probably destroy some component or another in the bowl suspension system.
