I load 54 gr. of imr 4064 with hornady 250 gr rn bullets and get about an inch moa.I havent chrono'd that load but can tell you it kicks pretty good in my remmy 7600.my dad dropped a cow elk in her tracks with that load and gun.

Mine is a US model 1917 in a Bell & Carson Stock. I have done a lot of load develpoment for this rifle. I run 58grains of 4895 Russian compressed with a Hornady 200 grain spire point for 2700fps with an extreme spread of 22. 56 grains with the Hornaday 250 round nose for 2400 fps extreme spread is 12 on this load. 4895 Russian is closer to 4064 that 4895 in burn rate. Jeff Bartlett recommends using 4064 data. Granted I have a very very strong action. I would work it up slowly for a 7600. I built a compression die from a old 357 mag seating die. This powder has large extreme spreads until you find the sweet spot. I started with a max load listed for 4064 and worked it up 1/2 grain at a time till the load came together. I am really please with the accuracy of both loads out of this barrel both are .75" five shot groups at 100yds the 200 grain runs a little tighter and these are avage group sizes I have shot some tighter some looser. The barrel is a Federal 22" crome moly bull screwed on by Brunswick Gun Shop in Brunswick Maine in 1982 while I was at Bath Iron Works Ship Yard for an FFG overhall. One would need a longer barrel to get anything more out of this cartridge. There is just not enough case capacity for bore size. If I had to do it again it would be a 35 Brown Whelen Improved. Using the 200gr load, I ran the scope up one minute and held on the nose a fast walking 8 point last year. I hit it in the spine in front of the ham at 300 yards. Dropped it in it's tracks, broke it's back and severed the femoral artery.
very hard hitting round!
Best regards,

I shoot 225gr Seirras with Rel15 at 2600fps. This should be obvious, but its probably a little overkill for a 40 yard button buck - bullet did much of the field dressing.
