Did you buy the ammo new yourself (so you are sure it was factory ammo)?

Also, if you have a set of calipers, get a measurement of the loaded ammo case neck diameter please.

You may have some flame pitting in the chamber so check it closely.

.284 loaded case neck measurement. what is the best way to check for the chamber for flame pitting? if it is pitted what will it effect.

thanks

Most likely the chamber is not flame "pitted". You could use cerosafe to check it. The brass was to soft in the web area that is why it ruptured. I would send the rest of the ammo back to Remington(looks like Rem. ammo) along with the cartridge that ruptured. They will replace the ammo, If the chamber was damaged they may replace the new barrel for you.
