Duno about the .22-250 ai but a friend is currently in the middle of building a .22-243 ai. absolutely fascinating ballistics! just something else for you to think about.

I shoot the 75gr a-max in mine. The b.c. and velocity are identical to the 7 mag with 140 ish gr bullets. What is not to like about this cartridge.

kslefty is it a 22 250 ai you are shooting?

Yes, I am shooting a 1 in 8 twist barrel from SSS. The fireform loads shoot great also.

would a 22 250 pushing a pelt friendly bullet at about 3700 be as friendly in a 22 250ai going 4000 or so?

NO, LOL no such thing at 4000fps. At those speeds all you will gain is a short barrel life.

i have a 243 ai rite now that is shooting great with the 70 grn ballistic tips, but it tears dogs up and i am wanting to save some pelts. i have a 22 250, but i would like to extend my range a bit with it since it does not tear up the hides at all. i am shooting 52 grn speers at about 3700- 3800 some where in there and it does great, but i wonder if i just need to get a heavier projectile to make for a more long range practical round like out to 500 yards with minimal effects from wind

What twist is it? If 1 in 9, the 75 grain A-Max would work well. With 1 in 8, you can go up to the 90 grain bullets.

Ha. I have a 1:12 on this one and a 1:9 on my other one. I am shooting 95 grn Bergers .5 now out to 900 soo day. And haven't tried shooting further yet. I will this spring.

i like the 52 grainers in the .22 caliber center fires. if i was to do the ackley thing should i stay with the 52's or bump up to a 55 or 60 to try to maximise my distance

yup and the work fine. there is no problem with them tipping over in the barrel and coming out up side down.

what kind of groups and velosity did you get out of them? i like the performance i have been getting from the bt out of the 243ai, hoping they shoot as well from the 22 250 ai
