I have a long action (flat back) with staggered feed blind magazine that is attached to the action. I want to remove it to adjust the feed lips as they are somewhat bent. What is the correct process for removing and replacing the magazine?

Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Flathead screwdriver behind/under one of the tabs & pop out of slot.

Thanks, I started to do that before I posted this question and it was apparent that a good amount of force was required to pop-out the tab, so I was concerned about getting the tab back in when re-installing. Is there a trick to it? Sorry if this is a ignorant question.

Was doing exactly that this morning, just as 5spd said, except I will add, do it on the REAR tab. The front end is beefier, and harder to make it pop out.

I put the muzzle on a pad on the floor, and angle the screwdriver so it will move the well away from the action.

I goes back on the same way it came off.

i did the same thing on my brothers rifle and found it does require more effort than one would think. i was afraid of bending or breaking it but with a little extra prying it popped out. putting it back in was easier! good luck.

I don't recommend using pliers or clamps of any kind. The reason is the longer you hold ity in the squeezed position, the more chance you take of deforming the box. I know this from experience. If you go at it from the back of the magazine, it takes a LOT LESS force than from the front.

I use an old factory recoil lug. Screw in the front action screw. Then, the recoil lug is a perfect fit to wedge between the screw and the mag. It will pop right out every time.

I use a large screwdriver to pop them back in.
