hey whats up everyone. id like some input on some things but dont really think it should be in the help me decide section. Some people have had issues with limited mag capacity for most of the savage rifles but im primarily talking about model 10's in 308. Now i know there are a few mag extension/conversions such as Ratmag's/SSS. also there are bottom metals like CDI, Vbull, and Kevin from stockade that may accepted AI mags and such. but now Savage has wised up in the last few years and have made the 10BA and the more recent release 10fcp-sr which use from what i can tell and read the same mags. so that led me to find Accurate-mag which again as far as i can tell make those mags for savage but even more interesting was that they make the bottom metals for the new 10fcp-sr. :o

so i check Accurate-mags web site and finally found there price sheet(click the technical tab and scroll down its in pdf form) the bottom metals for the savages are 139.99(bottom metal and trigger guard w/o mag) which i would consider an oem part because savage actually uses them.

so why the heck is this relevant? well at best i can get a 10fcp-sr for about 900 after tax. and thats great seeing is that its got the accustock and a scope mount included(not to mention the 10rd capacity)....but i dont like the brown camo and the 24" barrel. so i was thinking maybe i should go with the new model 10 precision carbine its got a 20" barrel and the ACU camo accustock. then all i would have to do is buy the bottom metal from accurate-mag which is a direct drop in OEM part......but due to Savages great idea of putting the bolt release on the trigger guard this will not work and cannot be substituted. !@#$!!!!!

SO why the heck was THAAAAT relevant?!?!?! well i then thought hey why dont i just get a 10fp-sr. it has a 22" barrel no accustock and no scope mount but can be had for around 550 and the cost of bottom metal/1 mag/scope mount/ possibly bed the action i would be right around the cost of the 10fcp-sr. well here is what i need some help with i know a basic 10fp-sr has a blind magazine but that wont matter much if someone can tell me if the bottom of the 10fp-sr is a metal plate(kinda like a floor plate) past the trigger guard that can be removed when unbolting the action from the stock. it would be less up front for the rifle and i could end up with what i want for the around the same price using savage parts(kinda) with the accurate-mag bottom metal and mags.

ideally im looking for a picture of the stock on a newer 10fp-sr. the bottom part between the two bolts to identify if its a metal plate or plastic that looks like a separate piece. any help would be great

An aftermarket stock that will allow a DBM is needed.

do you happen to have a new non-accustock 10fp-sr that you can support your statement. picture of the area infront of the trigger would help greatly
