Hello all I am in the market for a lrh and can't decide on the 6.5x284 or the 7mm rem mag. I will use this rifle for long range prairie dogs and maybe deer, elk But mostly just for long range paper. Any input will be greatly appreciated. I would also like a comparison on the recoil from some of you that own each caliber.

The 6.5x.284 should be far less than the 7 mag. The 6.5 will reach out there and touch something very well.

I have been looking at them to but for what they cost you can build one that should shot better then lrh 6.5-284 vs 7mm I'd say deer or bigger game @ 1000 7mm or 300wm but paper would be 6.5-284 but if you shot like I do it may only last you 1-3 year becuase of barrel life on the 6.5-284

I'd personally go with a 7mm Mag for the long range hunting. However, If I were doing paper punching maybe something like a 260, or 6.5X47L
