1:7 twist 223, 22-250 or 224 tth

I have a factory savage 223 barrel in 1:7 twist. I'm thinking of rechambering it in 22-250 or 224 tth. Any ideas or advice?

224TTH with a 7 twist will blow up most bullets before you can reach top velocities with it.

For a 7 twist you need to go with the 22-250 or similar. 22-250AI would be my pick, even then you may loose a few bullets.

I just like the idea of sending a 90 gr. Bullet down range with some speed, anyone have a 224 tth that could advise?

I've got the improved version of the 224TTH as well as several other fast twist barrel burners...22x6mm Imp....22-243 Middlestead...and several others like them.

The 90 MAY not hold together with the 22-250....depends on how smooth the bore is on the barrel you choose. Rough bores destroy bullet jackets and then the rpm's they have to endure once it leaves the muzzle causes them to blowup before they reach the target. RPM's is the problem, not velocity.

If you're dead set on the 90's going fast, I would suggest a 7.5-7.7 twist and be satisfied with around 3300-3400fps. The 22-250 imp should get close to this I would think. Maybe those with the 22-250 imp will give some first hand experience.

If you are successful in your project, Id like to know how you pull it off. I've been looking for a way to get the 90's up to 3500+fps without success for a while now. I have NOT tried the 7.5 twist though.....I have tried a cheap 7 twist unsuccessfully.
