Bought this rifle 2 days ago, yesterday went to the range for the breakin.
Stock rifle, out of the box to the range.
After the 10 rounds ritual cleaning between each shot,
fired this 3 shot group to test it for fun. 0.400"
Today I go back to range, just cant believe it.

The funny thing is that I have been trying to sell a couple of unfired 223 barrels off of Axis rifles, once folks find out that they came of the Axis they tell me they dont want them because they wont shoot. (my butt)

Well, just FYI I just send back today my new Winchester Featerweight STAINLESS 7mm-08: POOR accuracy .
148 rounds through it, reload, factory, lapping; name it..
average 1.8 inch 3 rounds.
My old Cooey 60 22 l.r. open sight do better than that.
even switch scope to make sure.
Gunsmith from the service center, told me it was not unusual with the Stainless barrel.
Some may think: you got what you pay for ! Wrong call .......

heres an example

I got the same rifle blued, sold it for inclement weather, shame on me.

The blued one was a tack driver, I rely on that when Ive decided to move for the SS.
Heres an example from the blue one:

I had (operative word.......had) a stainless varmint weight 25-06 when they first came out. No matter what I tried or did, it wouldn't shoot better than 1 1/8". I sold that POS and have never bought another late model Ruger. Their older rifles made in the 60s and 70s are still great shooters when you can find them.
