How light?

Everyone has the plastic Savage stocks.

I know a custom builder who makes wood stocks weighing about 2lb.

The Savage factory plastic stock with blind magazine are the lightest I've found. The Bell and Carlson Carblite Classic and Stockade Hunter are the lightest composite stocks I have tried at around 28 to 32 oz. If you want to spend big bucks on a Manners then you can get a stock in the 26 oz range. Otherwise, the Savage LWH at 5.5 to 5.8 lbs is the easiest, quickest and most cost effective way to get a trim Savage action and stock.

If it's wood you can vent the front and drill out the rear.

Be a little carefull makeing a wood stock lighter. The laminants are best as birch stocks can get weak/break and a walnut can crack along the grain BTDT It gets tricky getting a stock less than 2# even when you cut the forarm down.
