damn, how big are those pdogs over there?? I assume they are equiv to our foxes? else maybe you should think along the lines of a 450AckMag; if the 300 doesnt cut it...should be sufficiently convincing :D

I have been thinking about this since the first posting and what I've decided(maybe) is to really finish up the 4-5 that I did over the last 2 years.
They all shoot sub moa but could be better, so I am going to do more load work and spend more time at the range. When that is done maybe rebarrel my 243, it has less than 100 rounds through it but I prefer a varmint or bull profile over the sporter.

Well, how is everybody's new build for 2012 going? I finished my .260 that I posted on picture thread, working on loads now, going good, will post some target pics soon.

Very nice finished guns on the picture thread for 2012!!

I am wiaitng for the stock and barrel for my first 2012 build, a 6.5 CM Striker. Then I will picking up a scope for my SS DBM, less than 20 rounds through it, $210 model 116 .30-06. After that I think it will be time to start on another LARGE case Stiker. Thinking something that ends in either Edge or Ultra Mag. Of course, that is if I don't get disrtacted by another 1911 or Colt Anaconda.

Well, so far I am batting .500 on mine. My 30BR is together and got to fire a few shots out of her only to find that the new scope that was purchased for it was bad from the factory. Have gotten a different one and am going to mount it and go run some more rounds through her. The first three shots made a .375" group @ 100yds before the scope went nutty.

The 300WSM barrel I had was sold here to make way for new stuff. Still need to get a barrel to build my 6mm International off of, and instead of a Quarter bore or a 35 cal. I have been coincidently gearing up for a couple of 6.5mm calbiers so we will see where that goes.....

Below is a quote of my original response to this thread.

Would like to put together my 30BR, but need to get the dies coming in for that one. Got a 300WSM small shank barrel that needs a home and a muzzle break built for the threaded muzzle, thinking of going lightweight on this one. Want to put together a 6mm International, but I have yet to find a suitable barrel for that one (need a Large Shank Savage factory barrel in 6BR, varmint or bull contours). Need to get around to putting together another quarter bore of some kind and maybe a 35 caliber but those will most likely be the year after.

I am waiting on a new barrel nut to go on an old 110 that has a new .243 26" 1:8 SS Varmint Criterion barrel just sitting waiting to be matched to the action.

I am in the process of aquiring a new to me .243, and we will see about using that as my platform. If that does not pan out, then I will look for something else. I am NOT going to alter my 30.06 any more, because it is my deer rifle, and I am very happy with it.

I'm going to have several....which is normal for me. Only this time I'll be doing all the barrel work myself in stead of just the chambering that I normally do.

I bought a lathe and now learning how to use it. First barrel is a 308 that is coming out pretty good so far. :o

Just about to finish up my .25/06. I have a line on a donor action for a .264 Winchester Magnum build I've been wanting to do for years and I'm strongly considering a WSM of some sort since I've never fired one. Still looking for an action for the .270/08AI project that hit a serious snag a couple of years ago.

I'll probably succumb to the .220 swift and 7mm STW barrels I recently bought!

Trying to figure out with actions to devote to them ....... (I kind of like what they are doing right now!!)

Also, a .30 BR is sitting around with "wilted flowers" and I must not forget it!!

Decisions ..........

My own post got me thinking, I starting a new one myself. It will be a Savage 6ppc. I have a target action here in the box, so I called Lisa at SSS, and they had a 6ppc bolt in stock for my action. The stock I have is a Joel Russo, Manners MCS T-2 copy in Rutland Brown Laminate., 100% inletted for my action. The barrel, I think will be a Krieger.

Called Dave Kiff today, they have a nice 6ppc , no turn neck reamer, that is becomming very popular.

This one there is no rush, so it will be some time before it is done,,,Just my 2012 plans

I'm building a 6.5 creedmoor whitetail rig. Gonna be on a short action with a DBM in a wooden classic styled stock with ebony forend. Gonna have a magnum ER Shaw group buy barrel that I'm gonna get cut and recrowned to 20 or 21". Should be a super sweet, handy deer stand rifle!

Almost finished with the .243. Next is a new barrel for the AR. I am still pondering what my next savage build will be... probably one of the 6.5's. Gotta do some more research which is half the fun!

While considering Savage, long distance, FACTORY rifle, check out "6mmbr.com" look at listing on left of page at gentleman shooting his factory 338 Lapua, 1760 yards (ONE MILE) shots into a 2'x3' plate. Has short video clip. Fantastic.
