I have a LRP action coming from NSS and a 7mm saum barrel coming from CBI to go with the LRP stock and bottom metal I purchased. My question is can i just use the new style 300wm bolt face(newer size firing pin) I have with the LRP bolt. I dont want to mess with controlled feed bolt heads. thanks for any info.

No it will not. The 300WM bolthead is for a long action and you have a short action. You will need a short action magnum bolt head and a short action magnum firing pin.

I looked at midway and brownells and no short action bolt heads, they only show control feed style. anyone know where to find these parts? thanks again

It's my understanding that a long action bolt head can be modified to fit.
You need to shorten the tail about .190. I my be wrong as I have not done it.
Maybe someone will chime in here that has. You can see the differences in the FAQ section.
Sorry can't be more help.

you have been helpful, I have all boltheads here to compare and I see what you mean in the tail, I would have to shorten it to get proper firing pin protrusion. I shortened one last night and it will work, my only other question is about lug size the 300wsm bolt face and 300wm bolt face are both .060 thicker I dont know it this will cause problems with barrel install or not. I notice that the new 300wsm bolt face .120 thicker.

I think I understand what you are asking in your last post..if not please forgive me.
I made a 260 out of an action that started life as a 300 wsm. I used a new bolthead and new firing pin. there was no problem headspacing the barrel due to the longer magnum lugs, the lugs lock up in the rear. So the extra space toward the barrel that the magnum lugs occupied will now be taken up by barrel when headspacing.
Again..hope I didnt insult your intelligence. I never stop learning and always appreciate others input on things im not sure about.

I just happen to have the bolt head you need sans ejector parts. PM if interested.
