Take a look at Hodgdon's load data for IMR Trail Boss.I use it in pistol loads, but many rifle loads get down to subsonic. It's safe for most .cartridges, with a full case of this powder.

Hodgdons also lists youth loads, but my experience wth them in 223 only brings them down to 22 WMR levels.

Hodgdon has subsonic loads for the 55gn FMJ for Trail Boss, Clays and Titegroup. Check their website.

Never noticed those before. Is 4.0gr of Trail Boss a full case? Any idea how accurate those loads can be?

Thats a pain having to cycle the action manually! Wonder how it would be in bolt gun. I remember reading somewhere Blue Dot was good for reduced loads, about like a hornet.

I have loaded some of mine down to hornet levels with IMR, loads also from Hodgdons web site, and they do not cycle the semi's either. Those loads were not overly impressive in accuracy or consistancy. Would be interesting to see how accurate the above mentioned powders are.

I used to run 12 gr of bluedot under a 52 gr amax for plinking and varmints.
Very accurate. Runs about 2400 or so if I remember right.
Sounds like a 22LR.

Just be extremely careful loading reduced loads with pistol powder.
Its a lot safer to reduce load with H4895 or the like.
