Stevens 200 - Need New Barrel

Hey guys-I am looking for the best bang for the buck barrel for my Stevens. What direction can you point me in to keep it somewhere around $225? Was looking at Shaw but have read a few mixed reviews on them. Just looking for some guidance. I would rather buy once cry once. The new stock should be here Sunday under the tree. Looking for Varmint contour in 308. Thanks for the help.

My suggestion is to save up another $75 and contact Jim Briggs and get a CBI barrel. Based on the reviews I have read I think this is the best value on the market. I personally own factory, Shaws, Shilens, PacNors, Harts, Krieger, and Douglas barrels. My next custom will be a CBI. Luck in your choice, Tim

I guess I would have to say Shilen since I own more of those than anything else. I have been to their facility a few times. Good customer service. Honestly, most of them shoot well. It partly depends on the application. My Hart barrel cleans better and fowls less. My Shaw is the roughest by far and fowls the worst. However, my Shaw 22-250 will shot honest 0.4" 5 shot groups at 100 yds with 45 gr Noslers. I can't drive them wide open, but I can't complain either.

Gotta pull the trigger on one of these aftermarket barrels. In your opinins would you go with Criterion, Shilen or McGowan? Want to make sure I am getting best for what I pay for. Thanks for your help.

I keep beating my head off the wall debating what to get. Since i do not have the time to shoot as much as i would like and only upwards of 300 yards I am thinking about going with an ER Shaw to save some and get some more trigger time. Any further thoughts to pursue me one way or another?

I have a ER Shaw 1/14" twist in .223 and it puts all my handloads to .680" on avareage, so that being said I am happy with it and could not beat the clearnace price, this was under $150 for the kit & I did not expect that kind of shooting from it.
I also have a McGowan in 6mm that I got from Jim @ NSS here and its also a sub moa performer.
